Ifrit

An Ifrit (also spelled Efreet or Afrit) is a powerful Supernatural being from Middle Eastern and Islamic mythology. Ifrits are commonly described as a type of jinn associated with fire, immense strength, cunning, and magical abilities. Depending on the tradition, Ifrits may be portrayed as malevolent Spirits, rebellious entities, or powerful guardians inhabiting ruins, deserts, or underground realms.

Historical Context

The concept of the Ifrit originates in pre-Islamic Arabian Folklore and later became incorporated into Islamic tradition. References to jinn, including powerful fire Spirits, appear in the Quran. Medieval Middle Eastern literature expanded the mythology surrounding Ifrits, often portraying them as dangerous Supernatural beings capable of influencing humans and interacting with the physical world. Stories involving Ifrits became part of broader Arabic Folklore and mystical traditions throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
